Files and datasets

Uploading, organizing, and using project files and datasets.

Status: Available

Files

  1. Open a project in Hub.
  2. Open the Files tab (/hub/[projectId]/files).
  3. Upload files into the project file tree.
  4. Use folder breadcrumbs and folders to organize content where the UI provides them.

Access follows project membership and RBAC. Users without project access cannot see project files.

Datasets

Datasets are first-class scientific assets (uploaded or imported), including raw lineage files and processed analysis-ready tables. The product loop expects:

  1. Bring data in (store raw/reference for lineage; use processed CSV/TSV/XLSX derivatives for many analyses).
  2. Link samples across modalities.
  3. Track readiness states toward analysis and publication.

Browse broader library surfaces via Library (/library) and dataset routes under /datasets where available.

Supported formats

Do not assume universal format support. For the pilot-grade product:

  • Raw FASTQ/BAM/VCF/mzML pipeline execution is out of scope; raw files may be stored for lineage.
  • Analysis commonly targets processed tabular derivatives (CSV/TSV/XLSX and tool-specific inputs required by Analysis Studio tools).

Confirm format expectations with your team and the specific analysis tool before upload.

Metadata and permissions

  • File and dataset visibility follow project (and related library) authorization.
  • When partner integrations retrieve dataset metadata, only an approved metadata allowlist is shared — not file contents or storage paths.

Storage behavior

Files are stored securely by the platform. You work with them through the Files UI; the underlying storage setup is handled for your workspace.

Downloading and reusing results

  • Download or open artifacts and files according to the permissions on the project.
  • Analysis runs produce artifacts (plots, tables, reports) that can be linked into insights, labbook entries, and Ovaitions.
  • Tokenized artifact share links may exist for controlled sharing outside a full login session.

Provenance

Where enabled, knowledge links and provenance edges connect datasets, analysis runs, artifacts, insights, and outputs. Project Memory and labbook capture human-reviewed decisions with evidence constraints.
